The following paper purpose is to be analyzed theoretically and empirically techniques for enhancing motivation for change, which are eligible for implementation in the social work process with youngsters with deviant behavior. The study relies on the assumption that the model of social work, which is oriented towards the motivation for change, facilitates the process when it presents techniques encouraging change and avoids those who hold it. The motivation for change enhancement is a result of the specificity and the quality of interaction. The study was conducted in social work organizations with corrective and supportive functions mainly – shelters and transitional programs, therapeutic communities and rehabilitation programs. The article provides methodological guidelines for the possible use of techniques for enhancing motivation for change, consistent with the phases of the workflow in the social work process with youngsters with deviant behavior.

The paper presents results from an empirical research, conducted among children in residential care. Aim of the study is to identify the influence of public attitudes on the relationship between children placed at the institution. Societal attitudes towards children at residential care can be considered in terms of two opposing positions. On one hand - compassion and pity, ongoing donations, on the other – non-acceptance, rejection, labeling. In both cases, the attitude towards those children is not adequate and could generates violence.

The paper reviews the traditional understanding of specifics and characteristics of the casework method and some critical issues of the contemporary social work practice. Thus the social casework is commented in the context of interactions on micro- and macro level, case management practice, the subculture of poverty, the importance of the resources, the necessity of developing the personality and behavior, the importance of the relations in the helping process.

The following paper examines how the ability for goal setting is associated with the specific value-profile of young adults with social deviations. Presumably plain, specific and realistic goals are an effective mechanism and strategy for action and help the individual in addition to achieve motivated and intentional behavioral change. The study was conducted in social work institutions for young adults with deviant behavior – shelters and transitional programs, therapeutic communities and rehabilitation programs. The analysis outlines motivational and value-profile differences between the groups. Respondents also differ in terms of ability for specific, relevant and attainable goal setting regarding behavior change. The ability for goal setting is positively correlated to social deviation awareness, stages of change and motivational profile of youngsters.

Social work plays vitaly important role in every moment of a drug addict's therapy. It is directed towards support of the drug addict and his family in order successful social functioning to be acheived. The article enphasises on the specifics of social work with drug addicts. A short theoretical analisys of the different approaches of social work with that at risk target group is accomplished with particular attention to the psycho-social therapeutic approach.

The paper presents results from an empirical research, conducted among different groups of young job seekers – university students, high school students and disadvantaged youth. The aim of the study was to identify youth’s interests, opinions, attitudes and needs for their future career. Data based conclusions are drawn in relation to wide range of variables, concerning self-esteem, anxiety, work-related values, searching for job-related problems. Analysis and comparison of the data received from the three youth groups is presented.
