In the last fifteen years we can observe significant rise in the number and seriousness of the data breaches among the companies dealing with customer data. The aim of many analyses was to determine the impact of these breaches on market value, focusing on the breaches prior to 2008. The aim of this article is to present the findings from the analysis focused on 27 companies that suffered data breach between 2008 and 2012.

This article aims to provide a brief and comprehensive introduction to the issue of cyber warfare and to display the recent development in this area. Geographically, it focuses on the Middle East region, since the vast majority of the most important recent cyber attacks appeared just in there or were connected to it. The first part of the article tries to define the key notion of cyber warfare, compares it to the standard warfare and presents different types of cyber weapons that are known today. The second part points out examples of the most striking recent cyber attacks and uses them as evidences to demonstrate today's importance and dissemination of cyber warfare. Finally, the article sums up pros and cons of the cyber weapons and, in view of these, predicts a significant increase in their use in any future war conflicts.

The present time is characterized by an ever-increasing amount of acquired and processed data. The aim of this article is to highlight the diversity of currently used data sources, to show their specifics in terms of quality control and introduce own methodology that allows data and information quality management across these sources. The main component of this methodology is a set of basic principles and actions that can be universally applied. One of the key recommendations of this methodology is to focus on a relatively small set of data characteristics, which is relatively easy to manage. Part of the methodology is also a Data Source Maturity Model which could be used to assess the risk associated with the use of a particular data source.

This work deals with the analysis, comparison and design of interconnection between streaming, detection and tracking technologies in the multi-camera environment. The goal is design of predictive tracking system with ability to track object in real time across multiple cameras and also with ability to stream video from one source with the best display of object. There was designed a metric for rating each source of system, which is based on current position, size or detection reliability of tracked object in the scene. It was also designed mechanisms and methods for prediction of video source rating, for prediction next streamed source and methods for stream control.

This paper deals with the problem of modelling continuous systems. For simulate a PID controller, we used virtual environment Matlab. The goal of this article is to give information about the topic of the basic regulators PI PD simulation and PID too. Eventually, solved issues have to bring to professionals simple overview of how to simulate fundamental regulators’ types in Matlab enviroment. In this paper is like a tool for modelling of dynamic systems applied Matlab. Matlab was developed by The Math Works Inc. This software has a wide application in various fields of science and technology. In the theory of automatic control is becoming even one of the most used software tools in the world. MATLAB just like any other simulation program means allow to express some thoughts in several ways. The advantage of Matlab is the opportunity to work with blocks of similar blocks commonly used in schemes for control technology. Dynamic systems which need to be modelled can be assembled from standard blocks. These are predefined in libraries Simulink and with using simple copying them can be applied their directly in Matlab.

This paper proposes a novel paradigm for network congestion control. Instead of perpetual conflict as in TCP, a proof-of-concept first-ever protocol enabling inter-flow communication without infrastructure support thru a side channel constructed on generic FIFO queue behaviour is presented. This enables independent flows passing thru the same bottleneck queue to communicate and achieve fair capacity sharing and a stable equilibrium state in a rapid fashion.

Paper deals with the data driven computation control paradigm, which is alternative to the mainstream control flow model of program execution control. In the second part of the paper we are introducing computer architecture that is proposed at the Department of Computers and Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Technical University of Košice, according to the data driven computation control model with use of tile computing principles. In the final part of the paper, subgraph colouring technique that is unique characteristic of proposed computer architecture is described.

TOGAF is an Enterprise Architecture framework that provides a method for developing Enterprise Architecture called architecture development method (ADM). The purpose of this paper is whether TOGAF ADM can be used for developing software application architecture. Because the software application architecture is one of the disciplines in application development life cycle, it is important to find out how the enterprise architecture development method can support the application architecture development. Having an open standard that can be used in the application architecture development could help in outsourcing of software development. If ADM could be used for software application architecture development, then we could consider its usability in outsourcing of software development.

Increasing globalization, competition, but also the economic situation in our country and in the world, a powerful development of technology and rapid changes in organizations are just a few of the important factors why an innovative ideas and approaches become increasingly important for the universities. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the innovation of the master study of the Information management (field of study) in the University of Economics in Prague. The presentation is based on the theoretical approaches to the concept of the information management and at the same time it maps and compares the current situation and approaches of the selected universities to their master study in the Information management. Recommendations are primarily based on the survey of the graduates of the Information management from the Faculty of informatics and statistics, University of Economics in Prague, who have been employed in practice for longer time.

Social networks have become a new trend for research among computer scientist around the world. Social network had an impact on users' way of life. One of social network usages is recommendation systems. The need of recommendation systems is arising when users try to know best choice for them in many items types (books, experts, locations, technologies...etc). The problem is that a single person can't try all alternatives in all possibles life goals to compare. Thus, a person has to use his friends' expertise to select better option in any item category. This process is the main idea of “Recommendation Systems”. Recommendation systems usually depend on users-to-items ratings in a network (graph). Two main challenges for recommendation systems are accuracy of recommendation and computation size. The main objective of this paper is to introduce a suggested technique for transitive recommendation system based on users' collaborative ratings, and also to balance loading of computation. All this has to be applied on a special type of social network. Our work studied the transitivity usage in connections to get a relation (path) as a recommendation for nodes not directly connected. The target social network has eight types of nodes. So, there are techniques that are not suitable to this complex type of network. Those we can present a new support for recommending items of several types to users with several types. We believe that this functionality hasn't been fully provided elsewhere. We have suggested using single source shortest path algorithm combined with Map Reduce technique, and mathematically deduced that we have a speeding up of algorithm by 10% approximately. Our testing results shows an accuracy of 89% and false rejection of 99% compared to traditional algorithms with less configuration parameters and more steady count of recommendations.

The Structured Query Language (SQL) has been established as a standard for querying relational databases. However, users face the problem how to define their requirements for data by the exact query conditions. This work examines advantages of fuzzy queries, which provide a better representation of the user requirements by expressing imprecise conditions through linguistic terms. Further, the paper discusses solving empty and overabundant answer problems, revealing similarities in database entities and applying preferences in query conditions. Finally, paper discusses practical realisations of fuzzy queries.

In the current development of technologies, rapid growth of computer networks and distributed systems still exist a very probable risk of attack. There have been developed and implemented a number of solutions to help in detecting and/or preventing attacks and to improve the actual system security. The most common solution is to use Intrusion Detection System (IDS) in cooperation with the firewall. Neither the IDS nor firewall can respond in real time to a specific type of attack. This paper deals with the detection mechanism based on Honeypot technology and its use in the proposed architecture to improve security of computer systems. The essence of the work is to show how can sophisticated hybrid Honeypot influence the design of IDS architecture and thus increase its efficiency.

It is useless to argue about statement that contemporary generation of students of elementary schools is the Internet generation. The aim of the article is to describe how children use the Internet, which parts of the Internet they use more and less. We can compare this finding out with the habits of teachers. The author made a survey among 630 students and 150 teachers from different schools in the Czech Republic. The article should be an inspiration for school web masters and for teachers. It can recommend them appropriate communication channels to students.

The proposal does not mandate the creation of a specific model at some point, but suggests how the selected models can be used. Modern science commonly uses computer modelling. Thousands of scientific model are daily transformed to computers programs and tested. The transformation must overcome the gap between abstract human formal notation and low level semantics of contemporary programming languages. The simultaneous knowledge of specific scientific models and programming languages is an unpleasant necessity for a significant proportion of scientists and practitioners (engineers, economist, etc.). But a solution exists — accommodation of programming languages to mental models of their users. The article discuss one partial solution — implementation of domain specific languages in the heart of existing universal languages by mechanisms of metaprogramming. This mechanism overcomes limitations of classical programming languages and complexity of creation new languages from scratch. However, the support of metaprogramming in contemporary languages is limited to isolated and peripheral constructs in very few languages. These constructs are demonstrated by simplified but real examples (metaobject system of Python, monads in F# and macro-based metaprogramming of Boo language) together with discussion of their advantages and disadvantages. The discussion of examples is aimed to finding requirements for new languages and their implementation in a original (parent) language.

A large number of different methods in the field of estimation of IS/IT projects have been developed in past years. Those methods should be used with regard to several factors. The choice and the application of an estimation method should take into consideration the current phase of each project and the wide variety of external factors, whose composition and intensity are very diverse and individual. The accuracy of the estimation considerably influences the success of the whole project. This article aims to analyse the principles, which are used by methods for effort estimation, and finding strong and weak aspects of these methods.

With the thriving technology and the great increase in the usage of computer networks, the risk of having these network to be under attacks have been increased. Number of techniques have been created and designed to help in detecting and/or preventing such attacks. One common technique is the use of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). Today, number of open sources and commercial IDS are available to match enterprises requirements. However, the performance of these systems is still the main concern. This paper examines perceptions of intrusion detection architecture implementation, resulting from the use of graphics processor. It discusses recent research activities, developments and problems of operating systems security. Some exploratory evidence is presented that shows capabilities of using graphical processors and intrusion detection systems. The focus is on how knowledge experienced throughout the graphics processor inclusion has played out in the design of intrusion detection architecture that is seen as an opportunity to strengthen research expertise.
