The article presents the results of empirical studies that explain the features of self-actualization of external students with different levels of professional orientation.
It was found that students with high level of professional orientation are able to perceive their lives as a whole, to choose their own way freely and to be responsible for their decisions. They have specific aims in life, which fill it with meaning and view of the prospects. They are able to perceive life as interesting and emotionally rich and consider life as productive and meaningful. These students behave according to their own principles and values, react to the variability of the situation adequately and quickly and interact with others actively. They realize and express their feelings and needs naturally, perceive themselves as they really are, considering their own advantages and disadvantages. They consider human's nature is as positive in general. They are ready to meaningful communication with others, demonstrate a strong desire to acquire knowledge and have a creative orientation.
Students with middle level of professional orientation live in the present and are optimistic about the future. Their goals in life are full of meaning. Such students can make plans for the future, reflect the responsibility for their intentions. They are able to make decisions freely and to implement their plans into life; believe that they are not self-realized completely. Such students not always follow the ideals and values, occasionally tend to take their life as interesting and emotionally saturated. Sometimes they afraid to show their feelings and emotions openly, appreciate their benefits reasonably. Depending on the situation they are able to perceive the strengths and weaknesses of people. Students perceive the world and people mostly integrally, can have the deep and strong emotional and intense contact with people, but also feel difficulties in communication. They demonstrate desire to acquire knowledge reasonably, exhibit their creativity weakly in most.
Students with low levels of professional orientation mostly tend to perceive their own life abruptly. They depend on external circumstances, are conformal and dependent in making decisions. Such students believe that part of life they have lived was not productive and meaningful in general, do not share the values of the self- actualizing individual, feel difficulties in interactions with others. They are not able to respond to the variability of the situation adequately and promptly. It is difficult for them to orient in their own needs and feelings, to show them openly. In self¬perception they often do not consider their own weaknesses, they aren't sure in their own abilities and opportunities to influence the events of their lives. They feel difficulties in meaningful analysis of the contradictory life phenomena, tend to think of most people as evil and hostile, hide their aggression. They are mostly constrained and closed and reveal the pursuit of knowledge and creativity weakly.
