M The purpose of article written by the Vice Rector for educational work of Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts is to cover the inherent traditions of the educational process’s organization, which were laid by founder of Kemerovo Library School S. A. Sbitnev (in the period of 1969–2002). They are differentiated by the level of training of highly qualified specialists, practice-oriented teaching profession with stable ties between universities and employers, standardization training and methodological support, introduction of modern education, information and communication technologies in the educational process, automation of university management. Such experience allowed the creative university to make the transition to the competent model of educational activities, to provide training of bachelors and masters, to form KemGUKI’s electronic learning environment, to provide reliable training of methodology and software technical support and ongoing educational programs during reforms in Russian higher education, and introduction of federal state educational standards of higher education. The described method of practical development of competence-based approach can be useful for institutions of higher education of humanitarian and artistic profiles. The quality of modern library and information services is connected with in-depth knowledge of characteristics of texts of documents. The concepts «text,» «text of document,» «document communications» are fundamental in high library school. There is still no generally accepted concept for «text.» The following list of text features is based on analysis of a number of concept definitions: semantic content, lexical cohesion, inner coherence, order, integrity, means of expression, informativity, completeness, fixity, reference, grammatical cohesion, authorship. The following conclusions have been drawn on the basis of analysis of the identified features: a) in most definitions under consideration, text is a complex multidimensional unity; b) text contains specific meaningful information (content); c) text components are interrelated. The following definition is suggested: «Text is a complex systematic (speech, language) formation bearing certain meaning and having the features of integrity, (lexical, logical, grammatical) cohesion and fixity.» Resource and communicative directions of text research are considered. Interrelationship of text and information space is identified. Conclusions are drawn on alteration of the information space density due to development of communication technologies and increase of information exchange speed. The authors identify the factors when texts affect information space due to public needs when texts possess or lack artistic, scientific or otherwise merits, when text content agrees or disagrees with perception of the world by social groups. The authors also highlight simplification of texts of electronic documents and movement of written speech to oral speech, formation of new semiotic systems and Internet lexis. The authors argue on the communicative essence of the document text in the system of social document communication. The authors note S. A. Sbitnev’s merits as the founder of library education at the Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts and his contribution to introduction of educational subjects which provide textology fundamentals. The article deals with the history of mathematical training of specialists for automated library-information systems at the Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts. It is noted about the contribution of Professor S. A. Sbitnev in the development of the system of mathematical training of library staff. It analyses the Federal state educational standard of higher professional education on direction 071900 of training «Library and information activities,» qualification «bachelor.» It identifies competence, the formation of which requires mathematical training of bachelors of library and information activities. It argues for the inclusion of mathematical disciplines in the curriculum. It identifies the basic sections of mathematics applied in libraryinformation sphere. It analyses the field of application of mathematical methods in library and bibliographic activities. It explores the use of mathematical methods of solving the professional tasks for a bachelor of library and information activities. The author identifies the structure of the educational discipline «Mathematical methods of research.» It is noted that in the lectures and practical classes on the subject «Mathematical methods of investigation,» a special attention is paid to the possibility of practical use of the material at the decision of specific professional tasks. The framework of the students’ independent work attaches results of study and opportunities for application of mathematical methods in carrying out the scientific researches and developments, first of all, in the context of course and diploma projects. The article stresses the importance of the use of electronic information resources (EIR) in the educational process at the universities of culture and arts. The problems of local access to EIR are discussed. The requirements to local and network EIR of the educational purpose are given: the didactic and ergonomic indicators, for local EIR and information security requirements, scientific trustworthiness, didactic and pedagogical significance for the network of a training purpose. The experience of the provision of users’ access to electronic information and educational resources on the web sites of the libraries of the universities of culture and arts is considered. According to this purpose 58 web sites of the libraries of the universities of culture and arts have been identified and analyzed. The study identified a range of internal and external electronic educational resources used in the libraries of culture and arts. It was determined that the libraries mainly focused their attention on the creation of the electronic catalogue and a number of special database. Guided by the modern requirements to the educational process, the libraries extensively use electronic library system. However, the content of existing ELS is not fully in line with the profile of universities of culture and arts. According to the authors’ opinion the solution of this problem is the cooperation between the libraries of the universities of culture and arts, and the integration of the created resources in one of the surveyed ELS.
