HISTORIOGRAPHY AND SOURCE STUDIES IN HISTORICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL RESEARCHES. AS AN EXAMPLE OF RESEARCH OF SOCIAL EDUCATION OF JUVENILE OFFENDERS IN UKRAINE (1917 – 2015)

The article makes a thorough consideration of a special branch of knowledge of historical science – "historiography and source studies." The number of terms is also analyzed: "historiography", "source", "source base", "classification sources". At the methodological level their nature and relationship are determined. It is established that the source base of historical and pedagogical research is considered in the context of the historiography of pedagogical science, the same is reflected phasing of the evolution of the researched pedagogical phenomenon. Similarities between the methodology of scientific research (dissertations, monographs, scientific articles), historiography and source base on the specifics of their interdisciplinarity are identified.
It is found that the majority of modern scholars (A. Adamenko, L. Berezovskaya, N. Boguslavsky, L. Vakhovsky, L. Global, E. Panasenko, N. Seiko, O. Sukhomlinskaya, etc.) use the methods of analysis and synthesis of the literature in the development of the source base of research on the history of education. When processing the literary base of their research on the history of pedagogy, they use methods of analysis and synthesis of literary sources. With the help of which a certain key integrity is created, and the scientific literature is introduced into circulation after its comprehensive study. According to the requirements of the methodology for the study of historical and pedagogical phenomena, other methods and complexes of methodological approaches and fundamental principles are used. Among them, the greatest prevelance had the following ones: systems, historical, cultural, axiological, phenomenological, biographical, hermeneutical, and interdisciplinary.
Special attention is paid to the issue of the classification of historic-pedagogical sources. The methods of building a source base of research of modern scientists, who are involved in the study and analysis of pedagogical experience of the past (N. Golubnichaya, L. Stetsenko, I. Lipsky, etc.) are given. The separation of the source base into groups according to formal characteristics (form, structure, sources, method of storage) is scientifically justified. One of the variants of classification of scientific sources, which has the idea of the integrated consideration of archival materials, textbooks, monographs, theses and other scientific literature, is offered.
