n recent years, the Malaysian Ministry of Education has been reviving gifted and talented programmes. Gifted students are well-known for their academic achievements, but their socio-emotional development are often given less attention in schools. This article discusses the socio-emotional issues of gifted adolescents, and the needs for providing affective curriculum in gifted education to cater the socio-emotional needs of gifted adolescents. Various models for developing an affective curriculum are also discussed within the context of the Malaysian education system. Finally, this article considers the possible implications on teacher education and provides suggestions for future research to be conducted in Malaysia. This study investigated the ability level of talented and gifted pupils to define selected geometry terms and formulate a word problem for each of them. In order to perform this task correctly, pupils should be acquainted with the geometry term. Moreover, they must have at last experience in solving word problems. The research population consisted of 58 pupils from the 4th-6th grades who learn mathematics in a course which is adjusted to their high ability level. The research findings illustrate a medium level of mastery of the term definition knowledge. The formulated word problems were mainly taken from the pupils' previous experience and they are at the first level according to van Hiele. Only few pupils demonstrated creativity and write problems which were not similar to the ones they knew from the textbooks. The purpose of this study bring out owned intellectual image interested in mathematics concept of gifted students. Participant of twenty-eight gifted students that they selected via WISC-R intelligent test. A phenomenology design that one of qualitative research methods was adopted and data collection focus group interview. Data analysis consisted of content analysis. Students who participant made up different sixteen metaphor. The most widely used of them kainite. When examined justifications lie behind of metaphor gifted students have different three perception such as affected with people of math, influence toward math of the nature, the nature of math. The result of examine of math perception according to grade level when grade level increased, gifted students more interested the nature of math whereas depended on needed of people more interested math concept. In this study, examining the effectiveness of in-service training for gifted education has been conducted. In the study, 30 Classroom, Science, Mathematics and Preschool teachers working at schools in different cities of Turkey, took part as volunteer participants. Moreover, some criteria were specified for determining the participants. In this in-service training, teachers have received theoretical and practical training in the academicians who study on gifted education. In this process, they have designed units in groups according to the Education Program for Gifted Student Bridge with University (EPGBU) curriculum. The research has been designed as a case-study research which is one of the qualitative research models. In the study, some data tools (scales, interview form and the documents) were utilized Two of data collection tools were developed by research. These were Science Fair Mentorship Self-efficacy Scale for Teachers (SFMSST) and Gifted Education Self-efficacy Scale for Teachers (GESST). As a result of a one-week in-service training, it has been determined that the teachers’ perception of self-efficacy for scientific research mentorship and gifted education increased. After more than two decades of deterioration in the Israeli TIMSS results in mathematics, Israel scored number 7 among all countries participating in the world. As the probability of such a sudden, huge improvement seems negligible, this article sheds a new light on the Israel “achievements”. It shows that the students participating were not a sample according to statistical definitions and in additions – two sub- populations with the lowest Israeli achievements did not participate in this international examination.

he No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) was signed into law on January 8 in the year 2002. This law had a significant influence on all aspects of American education from pre-kindergarten up to grade 12. The basic intention of the law was: all children should have to meet quality standards that are assessed each year. The consequence was that teachers concentrated their attention especially to the slow and difficult learners. Consequently the fast and talented learners were neglected and school became for them increasingly a place of boredom. Boredom can produce a negative school motivation, or even worse it can kill motivation. Heller, on the other side, contributed as teacher and scientist in a substantial way for more than 4 decades to the well-being of all children, especially the talented and gifted learners. This paper reviews the literature and recommends activities that can be used to teach English to gifted and talented students. It includes the responsibilities that teachers of the gifted and talented have in teaching the English language. Strategies for teaching the language in a natural and flowing way to increase intake and usage are also presented. Also discussed are the pressures on gifted and talented students when they are learning a new subject such as the English language and how these pressures occur because of beliefs about giftedness and how gifted learners learn. Teachers need to also be aware of the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of their students. This information can be used to help students speak English more naturally during informal talks/discussions in class about their different lifestyles and/or cultural features. The special and different learning characteristics of gifted students are important for their teachers to know. Teachers of gifted students should then use that knowledge when they differentiate curriculum. To be a teacher of these special children means being open to ongoing professional development and always focusing on the learner rather than the learning. Finally, the teachers of the gifted need to shift their approaches in order to become counsellors and guides more than instructors and directors of learning.
