Hereafore they will be taken as a channel through which flows a mechanism that originates a national order. It is our intent to investigate the logic of the production, difusion and consumption of children’s books published and read during the “first Brazilian Republic (1890 – 1914). A special emphasis is placed on the motorideas of a civilizing project for Brazil.

Nous avons constaté, au moyen d’une analyse fondée sur la contemporanéité, l’existence d’éléments postmodernes dans le roman O Criado Mudo de Edgar Telles Ribeiro, surtout si l’on considère que la contemporanéité se caractérise par une multiplicité d’actions, par l’indifférence, par un nouveau imaginaire et par la présence démocratique et simultanée de divers langages. O Criado Mudo présente une structure narrative compatible avec notre époque. Rien n’y est totalement achevé, tout y est à construire. Le lecteur devient un partenaire inséparable dans ce jeu qui le prend et qui se révèle petit. Plusieurs narrateurs conduisent le récit à travers le fil qui tente de reconstruire l’histoire de Guilhermina, le personnage principal. Le lecteur, pris dans un réseau de fils plonge avec les narrateurs dans l’archéologie de ce personnage. Le récit fragmenté et la présence de plusieurs voix pour ranconter l’histoire privilégie le pastiche et conduisent l’intrigue comme si on montait un scénario de film ou composait une partition musicale. Cela fait de ce roman un exercice néo-barroque e, évidemment, un exemple d’écriture post-moderne.

Based on Jorge Luís Borges’ thoughts about the book and its contradictions when taken as a national symbol, this paper discusses the principles underneath the choice of foundational books in Brazilian culture and their role in the nation’s symbolic invention. Brazilian “national books” build a tradition of critical thinking of the Other in order to define a unique cultural identity. Such books act as an antidote for what Jacques Le Goff calls “collective amnesia”.

Ce travail rend compte de l’expérience de traduction littéraire, du portugais vers le français, d’un ensemble de nouvelles de l’écrivain cearense Moreira Campos (1914 – 1994). Nous avons tenté de définir un paysage littéraire spécifique à partir de l’identification de thèmes et de couples antinomiques, qui renvoient aussi bien à un contenu qu’à une réalité formelle: aridité, temps compté/temps effacé, dilution de l’être/affirmation de l’objet, thèmes déployés à travers des récits courts et synthétiques, une prose sèche et dépouillée, un rythme bref, une intrigue qui se perd dans l’indéfini du temps. Nous montrerons comment ce paysage littéraire nous a servi de cadre de références pour guider, de façon cohérente et adéquate, nos choix stylistiques et linguistiques à l’heure de la traduction.

Dictionaries have played an important role in the evolutionary development of language history. Althought “dicionário” comes from the Latin word dictionarius, it seems that the first attempt for making dictionaries dates from the third millennium BC , when the Eblaites stored their lexicon in bilingual lists according to fields. The discovery of Ebla´s archives demonstrates that language storage has always been a matter of serious concern. Thus, the purpose of this work is to show how a language is stored in different dictionaries and how useful they can be in the teaching of LSP (language for specific purpose).
