Risk in construction is common and are enormous and hence the construction industry is subject to major risk. One of the major risks faced by construction industry is “CONTRACT RISK”. Contractual is a written document between the owner and the contractor. The contract risk can be classified as Owner/Client group and contractor cluster property and personnel, Project works, Pollution, Third parties, consequential losses, warrant obligations, Unlimited liability/damages at large, Insurance cover, Force majeure and suspension, Delay, Variation orders, Free access to worksite, intellectual property rights, Termination by Owner/Client for convenience, Owner/Client’s obligation to pay contractor. Arbitration was established as a way to resolve contract disputes without having to enter the litigation arena. Major use of arbitration is to settle construction disputes without the need to undertake a long, exasperating and expensive legal proceeding method.

Protection engineers face difficulties to choose the suitable protection scheme in the practical life. They can find, in some cases, the need to choose inordinate protection schemes. In this paper, by using MATLAB SIMULINK some of the most common protection functions are simulated. The model introduced in this paper has subjected to different types of faults and the results are monitored to ensure the reliability of the model. This simulation of the protection relay enables to have full control to choose and also to modify any protection scheme and to monitor its results so it can save cost and time to make an optimum selection of the protection schemes.

Biometrics has long being touted as a powerful tool for solving identification and authentication issues for immigration and customs, forensics, physical and computer security. In real world situations, unimodal biometric systems repeatedly face significant restrictions due to noise in sensed data, spoof attacks, lack of distinctiveness, data quality, restricted degree of freedom, non-universality, and other factors. Multimodal biometric systems are used to increase the performance as well as better security that may not be achievable by using unimodal biometrics. Gabor filter‚ Gabor filter bank‚ Gabor transform and Gabor wavelet are widely applied to image processing‚ computer vision and pattern recognition. This Gabor function can provide accurate time-frequency location. In this paper we proposed a theoretical Novel approach for multimodal biometric system for personal authentication in which features are extracted from different biometric traits like – palm print, iris, and finger print. The features extracted using Gabor filters from multiple biometrics are combined at feature level and to perform authentication, a classifier SVM is used to classify the claimed identity as genuine or imposter.

In this investigation, the Role of Ti & B in microstructural and mechanical properties study of A 360 alloy, have been discussed. The microstructural aspects of cast A 360 alloy are strongly dependent on the grain refinement (Ti and B). The mechanical properties such as Tensile Strength, UTS, %E, BHN and toughness have been investigated. This journal deals with the grain refinement of A 360 and thereby improving the overall mechanical properties of the alloy. The quality of castings and their properties can be achieved by refining of α-Al dendrites in A 360 alloy by means of the addition of elements such as Ti and B which reduces the size of α-Al dendrites, which otherwise solidifies with coarse columnar α-Al dendritic structure.

A k- coloring of a graph G=(V,E) is a mapping c:V (G)→{1,2,3,…} such that uv∈E(G)⇒c(u)≠c(v). In this paper, we have considered a complete bi-partite graph K_(m,n)for all m,n and proved that the star-in-chromatic number of K_(m,n) is either n + 1 if m ≥ n or m + 1 if n > m respectively. We have also found that the star-in-chromatic number of a wheel graph W_n has the lower bound and upper bound as 4 ≤ χ_si (W_n) ≤ 5. Further we have considered the prism graph Y_(n,m) and found that the star-in-chromatic number of the prism graph satisfies the relation 5 ≤χ_si (Y_(n,m)) ≤ 6.

This paper presents the recent R12 industrial robot commissioned at Robotics Laboratory of Mechanical Engg. Dept, JNEC, Aurangabad. Paper introduces the overview, functions and industrial applications of this type of robot. The R12 articulated robot motion resembles human arm with 5 degrees of freedom having 5 joints. This robot operates with point to point motion and continuous motion. The R12 Robot can carry a maximum effective payload of 1kg at the centre of gravity of the end effectors. There are five major components namely base, shoulder, elbow, hand and end effectors (mechanical/suction grippers). Hand has flange coupling to accommodate gripper for holding the object. The object gripping is enabled with the help of various types of "end effectors" which are designed for different types of object. Various types of end effectors can be designed and attached to the flange coupling using set of Allen screws for R-12 robot. The laboratory is equipped with two numbers of pneumatically operated end effectors namely, two finger/mechanical claw and vacuum suction gripper. The compressed air creates vacuum in the suction gripper. There R-series robot has industrial applications such as Pick & Place, Welding, Spray Painting, Inspection of precision screws, Sorting of components etc. The robot designed to sustain the shop floor environment. The R12 robot can be integrated with “Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS)” in advanced industrial applications with visual sensor.

In medical diagnosis, the cyst detection in human brain is very difficult and intricate task. The task has been carried out by the help of image processing to make simple and easier. Since a long period of time, image processing has helped a lot for various pathological tasks and still an emerging area of research. Medical diagnosis became fast due to such type of advanced techniques. In this work, an approach has been attempted to detect the cyst in the MRI brain image. The brain image has been considered to detect the cyst. A simple method of segmentation and edge detection will be applied for the purpose of detection. The analysis will be performed using different structuring elements of the medical image.

Vegetable oils are promising substitutes for diesel fuel in the scenario of depletion of fossil fuels. Exhaust emissions and combustion characteristics at full load operation were determined with engine with ceramic coated low heat rejection (LHR) combustion chamber, with its significance characteristics of higher operating temperature, maximum heat release and ability to handle the lower calorific value fuel etc., with different operating conditions of rice brawn oil based biodiesel (ERBO) with varied injection timing and injector opening pressure and compared with conventional engine. Biodiesel increased nitrogen oxides and decreased particulate emissions with LHR combustion chamber when compared with conventional engine at similar operating conditions.

Renewable energy sources play an important role in electricity generation. This paper presents an approach to design a boost converter for infrared plastic solar cell using PIC microcontroller. This converter is designed to provide stable 24V output by stepping solar panel voltage without any storage element. The output voltage is controlled by microcontroller unit using voltage feedback technique. The output of the boost converter is measured continuously and the value is sent to the microcontroller unit to produce pulse width modulation signal. The PIC controller produces PWM signal using inbuilt CCP (compare, capture and PWM) module. The PWM signal which controls the switching of MOSFET. Thus by switching of MOSFET it would try to keep output as constant. Simulation and experimental results describe the performance of the proposed design. Microcontroller PIC16F877A is used to perform tasks in the proposed design.

Precision machining of electrically non-conducting engineering ceramics and composites etc. is an immediate need of the present industries. For cutting these materials Traveling wire electrochemical discharge machining (TW-ECDM) process is a useful process. TW-ECDM which is a complex combination of ECM and wire-EDM, has a good application for machining advanced non-conducting ceramic materials like zirconia, alumina, silicon nitride, diamond, glass, ruby and composites like FRP etc. The present research paper includes a hybrid approach of Taguchi method and principal component analysis (PCA) for multi response analysis of traveling wire electrochemical discharge machining process during cutting of groove on Hylam based fiber reinforced composite work-piece. Optimal combinations of operating parameters viz. pulse on time as a percentage of total time, frequency, applied voltage, concentration of electrolyte and wire feed rate were observed for optimal values. Initially Taguchi methodology based single response optimization was performed. The signal to noise ratios obtained from Taguchi methods have been further used in principal component analysis for multi response optimization. The responses at predicted optimum parameter level are in good agreement with the results of confirmation experiment.

A major part of all chemical engineering process and operations is concerned with liquid-liquid two-phase flows where knowledge of the hydrodynamics is essential for its design and transportation through pipeline. The degree of drag reduction of oil-water flow in pipeline is presented in the present article. A model is developed to estimate and analyze the reduction capabilities of drag in the flow in the pipeline. The flow pattern shifting based on effect of drag reducing agent is also enunciated in the present work. From the present experimental results, as the drag reducing agent concentration increased percentage drag reduction is increased. The addition of 50-250 ppm of PEO causes about 18 t0 32% drag reduction at oil fraction of 0.30. The study may be useful for further understanding the flow behaviour of multiphase flow in pipeline in petroleum industry.

The concrete is made with concrete wastes which are eco-friendly so called as Green concrete. Green concrete is a revolutionary topic in the history of concrete industry. Concrete is an environmental friendly material and the overall impact on the environment per ton of concrete is limited. The paper covers the aspect on how to choose a material for green concrete. It presents the feasibility of the usage of by product materials like fly ash, query dust, marble powder/ granules, plastic waste and recycled concrete and masonry as aggregates in concrete. The use of fly ash in concrete contributes the reduction of greenhouse emissions with negative impacts on the economy. It has been observed that 0.9 tons of CO2 is produced per ton of cement production. Also, the composition of cement is 10% by weight in a cubic yard of concrete. Thus, by the use of green concrete it is possible to reduce the CO2 emission in atmosphere towards eco-friendly construction technique. To avoid the pollution and reuse the material, the present study is carried out. Thus, green concrete is an excellent substituent of cement as it is cheaper, because it uses waste products, saving energy consumption in the production. Over and above all green concrete has greater strength and durability than the normal concrete.

Six Sigma is a philosophy based on setting attainable short-term goals while striving for long-term objectives. Six sigma is a highly disciplined approach used to reduce the process variations to the extent that the level of defects are drastically reduced to less than 3.4 per million process, product or service opportunities (DPMO). Six Sigma, in many organizations, simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process; from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The Six Sigma method allows us to draw comparisons to other similar or dissimilar products, services, and processes. In this manner, we can see how far ahead or behind we are. Six Sigma helps us to establish our course and gauge our pace in the race for total customer satisfaction. The work is carried out at Tulja Engineering Aurangabad, a Medium scale manufacturing unit. The project aims to reduce tool changing time at grinding wheel station. This problem was rectified to a great extent using Metrics, why? Why? Analysis and root cause analysis techniques. This work is expected to increase number of Six Sigma users after the impact of this result on the performance of the firm. The authors are trying to prove that six sigma could be implemented with the existing improvement approach to small as well as medium scale industries. Six sigma can also be used to solve the complicated problems which may be of technical or non-technical in nature. We conclude that successful implementation needs top management support, involvement of people concerned, organizational infrastructure, training of manpower and thorough process analysis.
