The steady growth in electronic transactions has promoted the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) thereby making it the main transaction channel for carrying out financial transactions. However, this has also increased the amount of fraudulent activities carried out on Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) thereby calling for efficient security mechanisms and increasing the demand for fast and accurate user identification and authentication in ATMs. This research analyses, designs and proposes a biometric authentication prototype for integrating fingerprint security with ATMs as an added layer of security. A fingerprint biometric technique was fused with personal identification numbers (PIN's) for authentication to ameliorate the security level. The prototype was simulated using a fingerprint scanner and Java Platform Enterprise Edition was used to develop an ATM application which was used to synchronize with a fingerprint scanner thereby providing a biometric authentication scheme for carrying out transactions on an ATM.

Herbal medicine has been an age long tradition for the treatment and curing of diseases globally. Previous studies on telediagnostic and prescription of orthodox medicine have been examined using the application of modern technology device to improve health care services. In spite of this, there is yet an exhaustive study on the integration of technological framework for telediagnosis and prescription in herbal medicine. Therefore, this research focused on development of collaborative teleconsultation and telediagnosis in sharing of information on herbal medication for patients in remote areas to improve healthcare delivery. WAVA based collaborative framework was designed for telediagnosis and prescription in herbal medicine, it has multimedia features for video conferencing, and ability to record, capture and replay consultations with the capacity for edit, data compression and short messages (sms) between the teleconsultants. The framework study the propagation time, link media delay, packet loss, processing delay between all (tele-herbal consultant 1, 2, 3…n) connected to the system. Each herbal tele-consultant was aloted with peer IP address in order to join the telediagnosis video conference from their remote areas. The framework displays paradigms for data acquisition on herbal medications, video-recording, and imagery of patients. The integration of this collaborative framework enhanced telediagnosis of patients with better prescriptions on effective herbal drugs for speedy recovery.

In Vehicular ad hoc networks road safety and traffic management applications required stable communication channel with minimum disturbances. In vanets vehicles used bandwidth to forward packets towards destination with the help of relay nodes. While exchanging information there are chances of collisions due to improper bandwidth allocation in a network. Some applications such as safety and traffic management required consistent channel conditions. However the design of an efficient medium access control (MAC) is a challenging task due to dynamic topology changes. The existing cluster based TDMA MAC protocols used traffic loads for bandwidth allocation in such a manner position of vehicle in the cluster is not considered. As part of that, vehicles located at end of cluster region can request for channel, as consequence the cluster head (CH) allocates bandwidth based on traffic loads. In this case vehicles are not in a stage to use total reserved slot allocated for usage, because in short span vehicles move to next cluster region, it shows inefficient allocation of channel. In this paper we proposed an efficient approach for allocation of bandwidth which depends on vehicle position in cluster. Here vehicles at starting position can get more bandwidth when compare to end position vehicles. The simulation shows position based bandwidth allocation where the channel is allocated based on effective and reduces collisions as result improves overall network performance.
