In the article on the basis of archival documents and periodicals considers the formation and development of the Black sea railway in the period from 1914 to 1953 years.There used the documents of archival department of Sochi administrationas an archive of sources.The article defines the role of the railway in the colonization of the Black Sea. The author comes to the conclusion that in the period from 1914 to 1953 years the railway sector on the territory of the Black Sea coast has gone from its formation to its maximum development, i.e. until the commissioning of all major rail facilities. This infracstructure has become a critical component of turning the region into a major resort sector of all-union importance.
