There are presented results of assessment of main indices of scanty fishes of the Kanev reser- voir. It was found that the state of populations of the majority of scanty from the point of view of formation of commercial fishery base for the study period can be assessed as satisfactory.
There are presented results of a study of structured-functional indices of natural food base and fish fauna of a fish pound near v. Peskivka of Kyiv region. There has been shown its suitability for fisheries exploitation and ways to improve the profitability.
The basic results of the modern study of littoral zooplankton of the middle part of the Kaniv reservoir are presented. New methodical approaches for the analysis of faunistic and ecological spectrums, biotopical distributing and quantitative indexes of zooplankton were conducted.
The article represents results of an analysis of the use of poaching fishing gears on Ternopolsh- china water bodies as well as qualitative and quantitative parameters of poachers’ catches. Based on the results, conclusions were made for optimization of fish protection works, reduction of poaching pressure and increase of stocks of aquatic bioresources in Ternopolshchina water bodies.
In 1988–1989 the free-living ciliates (Ciliophora) of plankton of fish waters (the Dnieper ba- sin, Kyiv Province) were investigated. Two fish ponds and one reservoir of complex assignment were better investigated. In these waters 102 species and varieties of ciliates were found, three of which were new for Ukraine. Seasonal dynamic of quantity and biomass, as well as production and destruction of organic substances by ciliates were studied. The average data of quantity and biomass of ciliates, and partially their functional activity in fish ponds differ from the reservoir of complex assignment statistically reliable (are significantly higher).
The effect of process parameters on fishery performance fingerlings destined for stocking ponds of different origin and purpose. The influence of main technological and ecological factors determining the quantity and quality of fish material has been studied. The optimum parameters of raising the young fish material with bigger mass have been determined.

According to the modern requirements of the market The Laboratory of Selection and Breeding is engaged in creating of the Belarusian mirror carp species they are characterized by the little squamous type of the integument the rounded body shape with a high back. At this stage of the selection a matrix herd of repairing of the selection nucleus has been formed which is represented by two (3–5) carp species crossed. The scheme of selection of the Belarusian mirror carp species is worked out.
The article presents the data on average weight, survival, and total protein concentration in blood serum of fingerlings mirror carp breeding families. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the data, some families promising for further breeding and distinguished for its better preparation for winter are established. The weak correlation between these two main features of fisheries of the experimental groups of fingerlings and the concentration of total protein in blood serum are established.
