The referral process in dentistry involves the mutual care and treatment of the same patient shared between the referring doctor and the specialist to whom the patient has been referred. Many factors in?uence the decision to refer a patient for specialist care and support. Clinical, personal, and economic factors of the referring doctor and the specialist coupled with the patient’s preferences and means make the referral process a complex entity in the everyday practice of dentistry. Good clinical reasoning and decision making in dentistry are necessary factors in the appropriate management and referral of patients with periodontal disease.

The objective of border molding procedure is to get peripheral seal to achieve a retentive denture. An exact border molding record is influenced by the material and technique. Green stick compound is usually the material of choice nowdays, it has thermoplastic mechanical properties that makes some problems. Polyvinylsiloxane have a long working time which come as material option that resolved the green stick compound limitations. This material is available in several viscosity, which influence their mechanical properties. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of border molding materials and techniques in recording morphologic detail of pheriferal tissue and denture base retention. Four custom trays were made from each subject then border molding procedure was done with either heavy body or putty polyvinylsiloxane material with fuctional or manual technique. Retention value was measured after recording final impression with analog push and pull gauge. Working models were then scanned with digital scanner CAD/CAM and measured with 3D builder software. The statistical significance of retention value and morphologic detail of pheriferal tissue was tested with univarian dan unpaired T test. Mean value at morphologic detail of pheriferal tissue with heavy body polyvinylsiloxane is smaller than with putty polyvinylsiloxane. Higher mean value of retention at putty with functional technique is (48,00 + 6.65) N. there is no significance value on both materials and techniques. Based on this research putty polyvinylsiloxane with functional technique can be recommended for border molding procedure.

RME is the most routinely used orthopedic procedures in young patients for the correction of transverse maxillary dimensions. It is a skeletal type of expansion that involves the splitting of mid palatal suture and maxillary shelves are moved away from each other. In the present study 5 patients who were treated with RME followed by fixed mechanotherapy were selected. Using pretreatment and post treatment models and cephalograms, the changes in the maxillary arch and airway were assessed. Significant expansion of maxillary arch with positive change in the airway were obtained.

Introduction: As probiotics are emerging as an essential treatment modality for chronic periodontitis its role is not well established. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of probiotic as an adjunct to Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) in chronic periodontitis. The clinical parameters, the levels of Matrix Metalloproteinases 8 in gingival crevicular fluid and the presence & reduction of Porphyromonas gingivalis in subgingival plaque samples were determined. Materials and Methods: This clinical study was conducted for 6 weeks with a single evaluator to investigate the effect of probiotic as an adjunct to SRP in chronic periodontitis. The clinical parameters were analyzed at baseline, 3 weeks and 6 weeks. This study also evaluated the effect of Probiotic on Matrix metalloproteinase 8 levels in GCF and on the existence of Porphyromonas gingivalis in subgingival plaque after 3 weeks. Results: Clinical parameters, gingival crevicular fluid Matrix Metalloproteinase 8 and Subgingival plaque levels of Porphyromonas gingivalis were reduced in Control (Group I) and Probiotic study (Group II) at baseline and 6 weeks. On comparing the groups, Group II had a significant decrease in clinical, microbiological and biochemical parameters than Group I, post treatment. Conclusion: Probiotics have great potential in arena of periodontics in terms of plaque formation, altering anaerobic bacterial colonization, reduction in Pocket Depth, gingival bleeding and clinical attachment level and in treating halitosis. Probiotics can be used as an effective adjunctive therapy to conventional non-surgical periodontal treatment in Chronic Periodontitis patients.

Treating a flared root canal always poses a challenge to the clinician. If treated inappropriately, the root is prone to fracture thereby leading to catastrophic failure of the tooth. Reinforcing the canal with the help of anatomic post provides optimal stability and strength to the tooth. This case report focuses on the clinical technique of fabricating an anatomic post and reviews the various options to treat a flared canal.

Ocular defects result from tumor, congenital anomaly, external injury or the need for histologic confirmation of a suspected diagnosis not only lead to serious impairment of function and esthetics but also make the patient psychologically handicap. Prosthetic rehabilitation attempts to restore these disfigurements may improve esthetic, level of function, psychological condition of the patient and ultimately ameliorate the quality of life. This article describes clinical report of rehabilitation of a post ophthalmic enucleation patient with custom made prosthesis using stock eye shell that can create esthetically pleasing result. Although the patient cannot see with this prosthesis, it will definitely restore the patient’s self?esteem and allow him or her to confidently face the world rather than hiding behind dark glasses
