Introduction: The study was undertaken to evaluate the reliability of cervical vertebrae as skeletal age maturation in response to chronological age and evaluate the relationship between DEMIRIJAN system of mandibular canine calcification and cervical vertebral maturation as a clinical method for skeletal maturation indicator. Materials and Methods: 120 children (60 females and 60 males) were randomly selected in the age range of 8-14 years. Results: 23.3% of males showed E stage of (canine calcification stage) CCS and stage II of cervical vertebral maturation (CVM), 16.6% showed F stage of CCS and stage III of CVM, 13.3% showed stage G of CCS and Stage III of CVM 8.3% showed stage G of CCS and stage IV of CVM. 13.3% of females showed E stage of CCS and stage II of CVM, 13.3% showed F stage of CCS and stage III of CVM, 16.67% showed stage G of CCS and Stage III of CVM, 15% shows stage G of CCS and stage IV of CVM,. Conclusions: The correlation values between the Chronological age, dental calcification stages and cervical vertebrae maturation method were high. Attaining of maturity in canine calcification and cervical vertebrae maturational stages was ahead in females when compared to males.

Introduction: Several researchers have pointed out that one of the most important correlated factors for the success of denture-adherence among edentulous patients is understanding the patient and his/her psychology. But there might still be other unknown factors which influence successful long-term use of complete dentures which need to be explored. Hence, the present study was taken up to explore edentulous patients’ background characteristics which influence the post-treatment adherence to complete dentures. The present study was taken up to explore edentulous patients’ background characteristics which influence the post-treatment adherence to complete dentures. Materials and Methods: A hospital-based prospective study was taken up in the Dental College, JN Institute of Medical Science during the period Jan 2016 to December 2017. The study subjects included edentulous adult patients aged ? 60 years attending the Out-Patient Department of our Institute and provided with complete dentures. At the denture insertion appointment, after obtaining informed verbal consent, patients’ socio-demographic background, treatment eagerness and their prioritisation for dental treatment were taken by using a pre-tested semi-open interview schedule. Then, they were instructed to report to the Prosthodontic Clinic after two months for check-up. Only patients who had been regularly using the dentures for at least two months were included in the study. At the follow-up visits, a detailed history was taken which included sections about their denture cleaning habits and duration of dental wear. Results: Completed data sets could be obtained from 100 patients during the study period. The mean age (SD) of these patients were 64.3 (±7.32) years. Males outnumbered females in the ration 4:1. A 27-year-old woman with a right-sided cleft lip and palate and a left sided cleft lip and congenitally missing teeth #s12 and 11. After primary treatment of the cleft during childhood and adolescence, the teeth were still missing and a large defect in the alveolar crest remained. Patient’s chief complaint was poor aesthetics in the upper anterior region. This case presentation describes how, with a multidiscipline approach by means of orthodontics, soft tissue grafting and a tooth-supported fixed partial denture the conditions were treated to achieve as good aesthetical result as possible.

Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic neoplasm which exhibits a locally aggressive behaviour. It commonly affects the mandible and seen in third to fifth decades of life. In most cases, an ameloblastoma is usually asymptomatic and may be detected during the course of routine radiographic examination. Radiographically, it may have a unilocular or multilocular appearance, which is usually well defined and have corticated margin in the mandible whereas ill-defined in case of maxilla. In this case series, we report 3 cases of ameloblastoma of the mandible.

Separated instrument is an unexpected procedural mishap often encountered in day today clinical practice. A separated instrument beyond the periapical region mandates the retrieval by surgical means. This article is a case report describing the surgical retrieval of a separated instrument from the periapical region which was aided by the application of Mineral trioxide aggregate for the endodontic management and application of Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) for promoting the regeneration potential of the periapical rarefaction.
