STUDY DESIGN: Case report. OBJECTIVE: To describe a pilot study about physicall variation induced by Mezieres Method. BACKGROUND: Muscular stretching is largely used in rehabilitation and in the preparation of sporting activities. Mezieres Metod is “global” stretching of more body’s area simultaneously, througth muscolar chains. It’s very common therapy in Italy and France, but not in the rest of Europe, it’s usually called Postural Therapy. CASE DESCRIPTION: The patient was an elitè athlete 30-year-old, male; he had more than one hamstring muscle sprain and several muscle contractions in his legs; he also had recurring low back pain: all these problems, making him an athlete with pain and irregular training. After more than one attempt, he tried Mezieres Method to solve his muscular problems. He was tested by Bending test, Toe-touch test, spirometry, stabilometry podometry and stiffness evaluation througth Movement Analysis Laboratory (MAL). A six months program of Mezieres therapy was made, without training and food changing. OUTCOMES: Following the intervention, the patient reported a lot of significant variations in all test performed,expecially in leg stiffness measured with MAL. Furthermore he gained improvement in athletic performance. DISCUSSION: The concept of muscular chain asks for a different stretching interpretation: poly-articulate and multi-segmental without contemporary shortening -transfert. Syndrome of overuse of the shoulder in windsurfing and kinesiologic taping

The traumas that occurs in water sports are evolving in both percentage and in specific diseases; it is different from just ten years ago, when, for example, sports such as windsurfing or water skiing had not yet had the current spread mass. In windsurfing are found: a) acute injuries - of the osteoarticular (contusions, fractures) or miocapsuloligamentous apparatus (distortions, distractions, lacerations, tendon rupture) b) chronic wounds (technopathies) statistically more frequent among these are the postural back pain, bursitis and insertional tendinopathy. The specific technopathies of windsurfers should be part of a thorough prevention program. Diseases of windsurfers are mainly of traumatic type and sometimes by functional overload (overuse). The shoulder, subjected to "overuse", may be involved in each of its components, so the technopathies of the windsurfers' shoulder often include overload diseases. Fundamental condition for a biomechanically correct movement of the shoulder: the head of the humerus remains centered in the glenoid during movement You have to analyze the patterns of recruitment of different muscles to prevent functional overloading caused by incoordination of the biomechanical activation of the kinetic chains. (Sahrmann's kinesiopathologic concept) It is the most common consequence for unbalanced repeated requests that are submitted to all capsule ligamentous structures of the scapulo-humeral. Diagonals : Part One

Diagonals are muscle structures that support and help our bodies to move. In this article (part one) we explore the development of these diagonals from childhood, and the enhancement of them in professional athletes. Part two will then explore what happens when neurological diseases damage these muscle patterns. Neurological disease tend to affect how these diagonals work more than orthopedic diseases. This is due to a dependency on various structures within the brain. Although these areas of the brain are not yet identified the interconnectedness of the spine and the large joints give us a clear picture that only one hemisphere controls them both. The overall distribution is unequal (between 90% and 10% split) but it is this amount of variation within the distribution which enables the diagonals to work in this way.
